Celebrate The Festival Of Facials At Urban Retreat In Harrods
10 Oct 2011
Wth autumn well and truly here, pamper your skin with a facial at Urban Retreat in Harrods. From now until Christmas seven beauty brands will be taking it in turns to perform their signature facials to customers to celebrate the Festival of Facials. This week sees expert Hungarian skincare brand Omorovicza offer its Deep Cleansing and Pore Refining Facial as well as its Gold Firming Facial, which is exclusive to Urban Retreat. Having tried and tested the latter, we can highly recommend booking yourself in. Not only is skin cleansed, exfoliated and steamed, but in-depth extraction makes sure every pore is cleaned. The facial is finished off with Omorovicza’s Gold Firming Serum, which is one of the best anti-ageing serums available, leaving skin feeling soft and supple and the appearance of lines dramatically reduced. While this is not a pampering focused facial, it’s a great maintenance treatment that concentrates on leaving skin completely clear and pores blockage free.

Hungarian Skincare Line Omorovicza Available At White's In East Hampton
2 Jul 2011
East Hampton - The Hungarian skincare line Omorovicza just launched at White's in East Hampton. It's the first time the Budapest-based skincare line has been available in The Hamptons.
Omorovicza (o-more-o-veet-sa) is a natural, anti-aging product range that harnesses the ancient health and beauty phenomenon of Hungary's mineral-rich thermal waters. The thermal water is considered to be the most active water in the world.
Founders Margaret and Stephen de Heinrich de Omorovicza met in the beautiful city of Budapest. The descendant of a noble Hungarian family, Stephen had been drawn there to explore his roots. Margaret, an American, had been brought to the capital by a diplomatic posting. Relaxing at Budapest's ancient thermal baths, the couple were amazed by the effect the mineral-rich, healing waters had on their skin. Fascinated by the natural power of these minerals, they saw their potential to be harnessed into a remarkable skincare range.
Working with a Nobel-prize winning laboratory of dermatology, they developed a pioneering, patented delivery system that takes mineral skincare to a new level. The Omorovicza product and professional treatment range launched in 2006 at an eponymous spa in Budapest, where the story began. The range has quickly earned an international following and today Omorovicza products and treatments are now available at some of the world's leading stores and spa destinations.

Celebrity Makeup Artist Emma Day Introduces Us To Omorovicza

One of the brands that has come to my attention of late is the wonderful Omorovicza line, brought to us from the thermal spas of Budapest. This brand was only launched in 2006 and has become a huge success in a short span of time with beauty editors and discerning beauty junkies alike. Created by a forward thinking couple, Margaret and Stephen de Heinrich Omorovicza, who visited the ancient spas in Budapest and were amazed by the massively high and beneficial healing properties in the spa waters. There are more thermal water spas in Budapest than any other city in the world and they are literally heaving with minerals and anti-oxidants, hence the inspiration for this gorgeous line was born.

What It's Like To Get An Hour-Long Pampering Facial From Omorovicza
10 Jun 2011
Tatiana applied one thing after another and gently schooled me on the line: It originated at a spa in Budapest in 2006, and the products are all a part of the brand's Mineral Cosmetology. Basically, they take the things that are beneficial from soaking in a Hungarian thermal bath, which is everything, and bottle it up.
On a normal day, the Cleansing Foam would be perfect to remove my drag queen eye makeup, and the Deep Cleansing Mask that's made from Hungarian Moor mud is the first thing to convince me I've finally washed all of New York City's crap off my face. I'd also buy the Illuminating Moisturizer and the Queen of Hungary Mist because they made me feel fancy. They also make a Dimple Vanisher (not a part of the facial, it's for other dimples), and had I known that, I would have asked her to flip me over.
60 minutes goes by pretty quick during a facial, and after the treatment was done Tatiana walked me back to the counter so I could see my skin in Bergdorf's ridiculously bright lighting. Not for nothin, it did look nice. I'd say illuminated, even. All in all, Omorovicza may have turned a skeptic into someone who might get a facial again if they all of a sudden came into some money. The handful of samples that I took with me should tide me over for a bit, but my first trip into "Ladies' World" may have convinced me to splurge a little on skincare. Though I didn't try it, my first purchase will probably be that Dimple Vanisher.

Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Facial

THE RESULT:
The whole facial lasted over an hour, which surprised and pleased me – I was expecting to be finished in half an hour. I came out feeling incredibly relaxed and with no sign of my pre-facial morning mood. I was a little concerned that the products would aggravate my sensitive skin but other than a little tingle here and there, which Szilvia said I should expect from the energising ingredients in the products, it felt like it had been made for my skin. Hours later, it still feels fantastically smooth and soft and, for the first time in years, I didn’t even feel the need to reapply my make up before stepping back out onto those judgemental London streets. Definitely one to recommend - whether you need a special mood-boost or not.

Omorovicza Deep Cleansing & Pore Refining Facial
17 Jan 2011
Once I've taken my position, prostrate on the fluffy treatment bed, Nadia asks me to inhale a blast of Queen of Hungary mist. This pick-me-up product, which contains rosemary, sage and orange blossom, is based on a 14th-century beauty recipe that was originally made for Queen Elizabeth of Hungary.
Next, my skin is cleansed and toned before Nadia sloughs off any dead skin cells with Gentle Buffing Cleanser. According to the literature, this contains diatomaceous earth, as well as pineapple, rosemary and white pepper extracts. After this is steamed off with warm flannels, Nadia applies a layer of Deep Cleansing Mask. This product contains another interesting ingredient - Hungarian moor mud, which is supposed to help reduce the size of pores. While this tingles on my face, my hands and arms are gently massaged with Gold Shimmer Oil, which leaves skin with a subtle sheen.
Then it's time for the rich mask to be removed, before my skin is moisturised with serum, eye-cream and a balm that smells of marzipan. There's lots of facial massage at this point, which seemed to encourage my skin to absorb the products.
Afterwards, my cheeks looked rather flushed, so I can only guess that my circulation had been given a kick-start. It also felt slightly softer than that cashmere sweater you missed out on in the sales.

Omorovicza Facials At Harrods Urban Retreat
11 Nov 2010
Harrods' Urban Retreat has launched a Concept Room which will host pop-up treatments from beauty brands that wouldn't usually be on your radar. The first to grace the room is the Hungarian brand Omorovicza offering its Deep Cleansing and Plumping Facial with Therapist Adrienne Harsanyi.
The facial is performed on a super comfy water bed and starts with a double cleanse using the brand's two cleansers- a black mineral-rich balm, which draws out impurities, and a cleansing milk, that cleans, soothes and hydrates. Next my face is steamed and Adrienne performs an extraction to clear the pores. While I relax with a mask I'm treated to a relaxing hand and arm massage. Finally Radiance Renewal Serum and Omorovicza's Tinted Moisturiser are applied - a nice touch as I often leave facials feeling naked and blotchy; this one I leave feeling blissfully relaxed.

My New Favourite Facial
18 Jun 2010
The beautiful old Art Deco mirror I have in my bathroom always makes my skin look better than it really is; but this morning, in the brightly lit bathrooms of ELLE HQ, I realised I really did have a glow. And it’s all thanks to the Omorovicza facial I had yesterday.
In the tiny but beautifully formed Queen Mary treatment room just off the Liberty beauty hall, Beata, my facialist, massaged, pummelled, prodded and stroked my face, arms, hands and upper back until I was almost asleep and my skin was plump, hydrated and totally radiant. The woman is, frankly, a genius – probably something to do with the three years of gruelling training beauty therapists undergo in Hungary. The massage techniques they learn are pretty much unique to Omorovicza in the UK: it’s this that I’m convinced gives the rosy-cheek effect I so loved about this facial. If facials aren’t in the budget at the moment, it’s an easy tip to imitate – spend a few minutes extra massaging in your skincare, and I think you’ll see the difference.

The Spa At Four Seasons Scottsdale Mines The Periodic Table Of Elements
20 Apr 2010
While we were learning about new hotel features and amenities at Arizona hotels during a Greater Phoenix Convention and Visitors Bureau event last week, we came across a new spa treatment at the Four Seasons Scottsdale that got our inner high-school chemistry dork all a-bubble like an overheated beaker.
The Spa at the secluded luxury resort has just introduced a new line of products from Hungary called Omorvicza (don’t ask us how to pronounce it) that uses the “strong anti-aging power of minerals including copper, zinc, calcium and magnesium.”
Arizona Spa Girls
Now Available At The Four Seasons Resort & Spa
6 Apr 2010
We frequently receive updates from local spas when they add new services to their menu, and it’s always exciting. However, when we heard that the Spa at Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale unveiled a new menu of facials and products, featuring the mineral-rich Omoroviczaproduct line, we couldn’t book our appointments fast enough!
Recently featured as one of Oprah’s favorite things, the Omorovicza line was brought to life by Margot de Heinrich, a Florida native, turned New York businesswoman, turned Hungarian entrepreneur. When Margot moved to Hungary from New York City for a job, she met and married her Hungarian-native husband, who introduced her to the Budapest thermal spring baths. After a few visits, Margot noticed that her usually problematic skin was glowing, radiant and pimple-free. After conducting extensive research into the baths and the Hungarian approach to health and wellness through spas, Margot took the plunge and created the Omorovicza line. Now, only three years after launching her business, Margot’s products are featured in the top spas across the world and are sold in department stores like Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. So far this year, her product sales are up 157% in Neiman Marcus alone.
The products in the Omorovicza line use unique minerals harvested from the world’s largest source of healing thermal waters in Hungary. All the products are paraben-free and produced without petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances and colors.
The Spa at Four Seasons Scottsdale was hand selected by the Omorovicza team to be one of two spas in Arizona to carry products and offer treatments (the other being Alvadora Spa at Royal Palms Resort).
After undergoing an intense training program with the Omorovicza team from Hungary, the spa now offers six facial treatments that are bound to keep you coming back for more. I was fortunate to experience the new Hydrating and Soothing Facial, an 80-minute treatment that replenishes and rescues skin in need of moisture (perfect for the dry skin that we get here in Arizona!). The facial featured massage-like techniques (which I’ve never experienced in a facial before) that left my skin feeling smooth and moist without feeling over-moisturized.
These new mineral facials range in price from $155 to $310. You have to experience this line for yourself!

Do You Really Need To Have A Facial Every Month?
12 Nov 2009
Do you really need to have a facial every month? I'm confused by the menu at my local beauty salon.
It is certainly beneficial to have a salon treatment once a month. This will really help your skin, regardless of your problem. And most of us have at least one concern, whether it's dryness, oiliness, ageing or breakouts.
The therapist will focus on your particular problem, and regular visits should make a big difference.
'The life cycle of skin cells that rise to the surface is about 28 days,' says Margaret de Heinrich, co-founder of Omorovicza Hungarian skincare.
'So it makes sense to have a professional deep cleansing, including exfoliation, to help remove them and make way for new cells and a healthy, glowing complexion.'
Philip Davies, owner of Glow Urban Spa, says: 'Regular monthly facials will maintain a good clear skin and address and support problematic skin.'
'Always book a consultation first or chat on the phone to establish the most suitable facial for you.'
'And, on the day of the treatment, reaffirm your problems with the therapist.'

THE CELLULITE BUSTER
I've always felt self-conscience about my thighs, but I'm hoping a course of six cellulite-targeted treatments will change that. Each one starts with body brushing from ankles to upper thighs, then exfoliation using a buffing clay that doubles up as a detoxifying mask. That stays on for 10 minutes while my therapist distracts me with a head and face massage. The final bit is a lot less pleasant as my legs are massaged deeply - and at length - with a specially blended cream containing white pepper, caffeine and arnice. The pressure is occasionally so hard, I wince.
THE RESULT: The treatment is really uncomfortable at times (even leaving small bruises on my legs), but the different is incredible. My thighs look and feel firmer - and are slimmer by half and each each.

Phase one: the Dissolve Dimple treatment by Omorovicza - a course of six eye-watering, 90-minute deep-tissue massages followed by a lymphatic-drainage mud mask from the waist down. A massage isn't a cop out - it's essential for buttock firming, due to the proliferation of fat stores, and exercise will, apparently, be more effective afterwards. Plus, it can hurt. Certainly, after three sessions, there is considerable deflation of the saddlebag area.

When Adrienne Harsanyi, top facialist for Hungarian skincare company Omorovicza, gave me a stupendous facial recently, she suggested I add a couple of teaspoons of bottled water to richer cream and massage for a few minutes at least once a week to keep up her good work. Apparently water gives extra 'slip', aiding your circulation-boosting massage, plus it helps the cream penetrate deeper into the skin. She's right. My fresh-from-a-facial glow has lasted.

Hungarian beauty therapists are know to be able to work wonders with a body brush, so it comes as no surprise that Hungarian brand Omorovicza has launched a cellulite-busting treatment. The Dimple Dissolve begins with a vigorous, but gentle, brushing of the body and a detoxifying exfoliation, using Omorovicza'a Body Buffing Balm; a salt scrub rich in capiscum peptide (a mild skin irritant, which draws blood to the skin's surface) and Hungarian thermal mud, which helps to boost circulation. Particular attention is paid to the legs, buttocks and stomach, which are prone to cellulite. These areas are then massaged with Dimple Vanisher. This product combines ingredients such as arnica, caffeine, capiscum peptide and forskolin (a hydrocarbon produced from the Indian Coleus plan, which acts as a vasodilator and widens blood vessels). Finally, Firming Body Oil is applied to the body using lymphatic drainage to clear toxins. Micro-circulation to the area is enhanced and dimples appear reduced.

The treatment begins with a thorough cleansing to the face and décolleté to remove impurities and prepare the skin. The face and décolleté are then massaged. Stimulating movements move muscles and boost blood flow to energise the circulation. Relaxing massage techniques are then used on the face.
A face mask suited to the client's skin type is then applied and the hands are massaged. After removal of the mask a hydrating cream is applied to the face, eyes and décolleté.

Omorovicza Relaxing Re-Mineralizing Facial. This facial uses healing Hungarian minerals, vitamins and natural active ingredients.
Feel-Good Factor
29 Jan 2008
WHAT DOES IT CLAIM?
It uses Hungarian healing waters and a special blend of minerals, vitamins and natural active ingredients to soothe, cleanse and stimulate. The work is carried out by therapists taught by the Hungarian experts who undergo a gruelling three-year training themselves. The end result is radiant skin and a feeling of total relaxation.
The curative properties of Hungarian healing waters, on which the treatments are based, were discovered 2,000 years ago. The crust of the earth is thinner in the Carpathian Basin, so the thermal waters raise nearer to the surface, and they are unusually rich in minerals.
ANY SCIENCE TO IT?
Stephen and Margaret de Heinrich de Omorovicza worked with a Hungarian dermatology laboratory - famous for its Nobel Prize-winning discovery of vitamin C - to formulate the Pannon Complex as the key ingredient. This includes a cell-boosting factor derived from lupin and micro-algae, which is rich in vitamin C and tocopherol (a form of vitamin E) providing antioxidant protection against free radicals and which stimulate the synthesis of collagen. It also contains apricot kernel oil (vitamin Ak), which boosts collagen production, leaving skin smooth and soft.
WHAT IS IT LIKE?
I entered a small room to the sound of crashing waves and a soothing classics soundtrack. The therapist invited me to lie down on warm hydrotherm pillows to help relaxation. It became pretty hot during the treatment: I kept shedding clothes as she proceeded. It started with the cleansing of the face, shoulders and upper chest to remove impurities, followed by a neck and shoulder massage.
While an Omorovicza face-mask worked, Laura, the salon's leading facialist, massaged my hands. When the mask was removed, a hydrating cream was applied to my face, eyes and décolleté. She recommended avoiding make-up to allow fro proper absorption.
VERDICT
I emerged feeling pampered. My skin looked very clean and the pores refined.

TRICK OR TREATMENT?
With the sudden cold snap, my skin was suffering so I booked myself in for an Omorovicza facial at Glow Spa in Knightsbridge. The products are based on Hungarian hot springs, which are high in minerals and vitamins, and each facial is tailor-made. During the 90-minute treatment, my face and décolleté was buffed and purified using an unending supply of masks and serums. Not only was my face and decollete taken care of, but also my shoulders, hands and arms were given a thorough massage.

Just like our wardrobe, sometimes skin deserves a good clearout. For the ultimate purge, choose a deep-cleansing facial with extraction:
THE OMOROVICZA FACIAL
The Credentials: Omorovicza is natural skincare from Hungary. A few times a year, a therapist from their luxurious HQ in Budapest flies to Dublin to perform facials. In Hungary, where facials are an essential part of everyone's skincare routine, therapists are unbelievably well trained - they are absolute professionals.
Let it all out: The deep-cleaning facial worked a treat on my congested skin. A steady flow of steam was directed at my face for a considerable length of time, which not only prepped the skin but also helped relax me before a seriously rigorous clean-out. This was the most thorough extraction I've ever had, performed in a clean and clinical manner.
