LONG-HAUL TRAVEL HEROES

June 26th, 2019

Get your skin runway ready with our in-flight tips and long-haul travel heroes.

Whether your next jet setting adventure is short or long-haul, cabin climates can wreak havoc on the skin. High-pressured cabins with recirculated, dehumidified air can dehydrate the skin, reduce oxygen circulation and increase the production of cortisol, the stress hormone. The result? Reduced skin barrier function, sensitivity, irritation and blemishes. With wanderlust season upon us, we've curated a list of our in-flight tips and long-haul travel heroes to keep your complexion radiant no matter what your flight time.

Typically, the skin is most comfortable when the humidity is between 40 and 70 per cent. With most cabin humidity peaking at around 20 per cent, half of what the skin is used to, it's important to counteract the dip in humidity with a boost in hydration. Lift the skin's moisture levels with our hydrating heroes. The conveniently-sized Oxygen Booster, formulated with hyaluronic acid, works to lock in moisture and rebuild the skin’s firmness while diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Follow with a spritz of the Magic Moisture Mist, a lightweight liquid moisturiser enriched with pollution-defying, plant stem cells, as well as nourishing essentials oils.

If your skin requires a more rich and luxurious hydration, try layering the Blue Diamond Concentrate and Instant Plumping Mask and remember, don't neglect the nose and lips. Protect the most sensitive areas of the face by applying a small amount of the Perfecting Lip Balm to the corners of the mouth and nose to prevent dryness and cracking.

At 30,000 feet, UV exposure also poses a threat to the skin. Shield your skin from harmful UVA & UVB with an SPF. The tinted Complexion Perfectors, formulated with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, work to provide a physical layer of protection from the sun's rays, while anti-oxidant rich vitamin c evens and brightens the complexion.

Remember - your long-haul routine doesn't end when the flight does. It's important to exfoliate the skin upon arriving at your destination to slough off dead skin cells, remove pollutants and free radicals, and stimulate cell turnover. The award-winning Refining Facial Polisher and Copper Peel are a quick solution to clarify and clean the skin but remember to apply an SPF after using an exfoliating product as the skin becomes more susceptible to UV damage.
