What is an essence?

February 08th, 2016

What is an essence?

With the launch of the new Omoressence, we take a look at the essence skincare phenomena in more detail.

An essence is a highly enriched, lightweight formula which infuses nutrients and moisture deep into the skin. It preps the skin for oncoming skincare products such as moisturiser and make up and helps skin to retain and capture moisture. An essence also stabilises the physiological balance of skin after having been stripped of oils during cleansing.

It is essential to apply an essence immediately after cleansing when skin is at its cleanest and before your serum and moisturiser. The application is slightly different to other skincare products. Follow our step by step instructions below:
1. Pour a few drops into your hands and rub together
2. Pat and press over face and neck, rolling left to right with a full hand
3. Allow a few minutes to absorb, then follow with serum and moisturiser

Are you getting confused what the difference is between an essence and a toner or even a serum?

Let us explain what each product does to ensure you’re using these products effectively:

Toner
A toner is used to ‘wipe away’ any remaining residue after cleansing, as well as clarify and Ph balance the skin.

Essence
An essence preps skin and is a lightweight enriched formula of active ingredients delivering antioxidants, vitamins, organic acids and moisturizing peptides into the skin.

Serum
A serum is a more concentrated formula of nutrients and active ingredients which is applied to the skin for a specific purpose such as anti-ageing and brightening.
